_Responsible for the educational leadership of students placed in math classes in grades six through eight.
The specialist is expected to understand and demonstrate the use of the school’s curriculum, student instruction and assessment to maximize educational achievement for all students; work collaboratively to ensure a working and learning climate for all students that is safe, secure and respectful.
Implementing strategies to reach the multiple intelligences of students through creative lessons is required_
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
● Works through the curriculum at an appropriate pace, with ongoing assessment of how each student is progressing through the material
● Uses formal and informal assessment tools to measure students’ progress
● Individualized instruction according to each student’s needs while moving everyone toward the Florida BEST State Standards
● Identifies and addresses academic or disciplinary problems, documents situations and/or
alerts the Administration or parents when appropriate
● Respects the confidentiality of students, families, and colleagues by using the highest degree of discretion in all communication
● Completes administrative tasks to maintain smooth operation of classroom
● Instructs pupils in math standards and prepares lesson plans, learning targets, and establishes course goals
● Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students
● Selects appropriate and approved instructional resources and for courses.
Demonstrates
method and procedure to pupils.
● Communicates with parents through a variety of means.
● Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or professional growth activities and university courses.
● Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university.
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Florida Educators certificate required by the Florida Department of Education.
Certification in Math grades 5-9.
This position will focus on teaching 6th grade, 7th grade, and Pre-Algebra math glasses.
