96 Biweekly Posting Closing Date: 02/19/2024 Total Compensation Estimator Tool OPEN COMPETITIVE JOB POSTING Your Specific Responsibilities: This position is assigned to the Community Health Improvement Section (CHI) within the Okaloosa County Health Department (OCHD).
This involves advanced-level work in a grant-funded tobacco prevention program, promoting, maintaining, and improving individual and/or community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors.
Complex tasks are performed where general policies may not have been previously established and standard methods may not be available.
This position requires an extensive knowledge of youth, community dynamics, and an ability to be an effective agent for change.
Serve as lead staff in developing and implementing a strategy plan to address tobacco free multi-unit housing.
Interviews multi- unit housing owners/managers regarding their tobacco policies.
Assists multi-unit housing owners/managers in developing and implementing tobacco/smoke-free policies.
Conducts data collection activities.
Serve as lead staff in developing and implementing a strategy plan to address tobacco free public places.
Meets with local policy makers, local elected officials, agency leaders and business owners.
Conducts data collection and surveillance activities.
Serves as a SWAT lead, K-12 policy lead, Tobacco Free Partnership lead and cessation access policy lead.
Prepares and submits Commitment Change Requests (CCR) as needed.
Prepares and submits annual work plan and quarterly reports in Automated Tobacco Activity Collection System (ATACS).
Acts as a fiscal liaison between the County Tobacco program and the OCHD Finance and Accounting Section.
Responsible for tobacco program purchasing and budgets in coordination with Community Health Improvement Section Chief.
Attends training and maintains competencies.
Transports adult volunteers, and transports and chaperones youth volunteers/advocates, to local, regional, state, and/or national tobacco prevention and control trainings, events, meetings, functions, or activities.
Prioritizes work and uses time wisely.
Maintains confidentiality of all information within the health.
Performs all other duties as assigned in support of the Agency’s Mission and Vision.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation and grammar usage.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of health education.
Skill in effective communication in written, oral, and electronic formats.
Ability to identify and analyze problems and develop plans or procedures to correct these problems.
Ability to use logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.

Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Community Health, Public Health or other health related field preferred.

Driver’s License required to perform duties where operating a county-owned vehicle is preferred.
CHES, CPH, or MCHES certification preferred.
